On Thursday July 16th at 7pm Katie Krueger will be sharing her thoughts on the topic: The Courage to Talk To Strangers and reading from her latest book, Give with Gratitude: Lessons Learning Listening to West Africa.
Krueger's book, Give with Gratitude: Lessons Learned Listening to West Africa, examines the cultural wisdom gained by listening to the people of Senegal, West Africa. The idea that travel requires courage is a myth; too often we leave our comfort zone only to try and recreate it in a new place. Real bravery comes when opening our hearts and minds to the strangers that we meet along the way. For most Americans, who are taught from an early age "Don't Talk to Strangers" building these relationships requires a great deal of courage. Give with Gratitude tells a compelling story of the lessons Krueger learned when listening to the Senegalese, and asks the readers to imagine how things would change if they had the courage to incorporated these lessons into their own lives.
Katie Krueger has lived, worked, and written on four continents and hopes to someday hit all seven. An entrepreneur, Katie owns Gratice Press LLC, a writing and speaking company whose mission is to help people grow their dreams. Her writing has appeared in The San Francisco Chronicle, Utne Reader, and the Travel Channel’s World Hum. She lives in Madison, WI where she spends most of her time riding her newly restored 1969 Schwinn Collegiate.
